The advent of Artificial Intelligence appears, to our eyes, as one of the most striking signs of the End Times. As it is written in Daniel 12:4: “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”
Artificial Intelligence is now perceived as the miraculous solution to a myriad of global problems, from endemic hunger to incurable diseases, and bureaucratic inefficiency. Yet, behind this dynamic lies a major prophetic fulfillment, that which was announced in the book of Daniel and relates to the end of these difficult times. “Let the reader understand” (Matthew 24:15).
We attribute almost messianic powers to Artificial Intelligence: a capacity to optimize, anticipate, and create with unparalleled efficiency and precision. Algorithms now predict epidemics; AI systems optimize humanitarian logistics; and surgical robots operate with superhuman dexterity. Autonomous cars, omnipresent voice assistants, and instantaneous translators are but glimpses of this revolution which, like a surging river, carries with it an incessant flow of innovations.
We are witnesses to an exponential increase in human “knowledge”, an expansion of our intellectual and operational capabilities that defies all historical comparison. The use of this tool should be imperatively disciplined by the total control of the Holy Spirit to avoid succumbing to the multiple traps of dependence and idolatry. God, in His infinite wisdom, warned His people, over 4,600 years before Christ, against the meandering paths of knowledge growth. As Proverbs 1:7 states: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” and Proverbs 2:6: “For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.”
Let the reader beware of being trapped.
